Joseph Sabatini

February 18, 1951 — December 5, 2019

Joseph Michael Sabatini, "Joe Sab" age 68, born February 18, 1951, son of Emedio (Mike) Sabatini and Jennie Mae (Ezzi) Sabatini, passed away peacefully in his home Thursday, December 5, 2019, after a courageous battle with a neurodegenerative disease.

Joe graduated from Uniontown High School class of 1968 and was a proud graduate of Penn State University. He was a member of the Red Raider Band as well as a lifelong musician talented in accordion, drums and singing. He was a member of many bands spanning decades that included The Invaders, Critters, Sweet Pain, Dawns, Roundhouse, Trixx, Bourbon Street and Nobody’s Perfect.

Joe was proud to be self-employed and was a master craftsman in all masonry work, custom glass block window installation and ceramic tile. He had an immense appreciation for the outdoors, the beauty of the land and the sport of hunting. He spent most of his free time hunting deer and wild birds, primarily pheasant and grouse, with his beloved bird dogs; Tama, Maggie and Beau. He was an expert marksman and his best days were spent afield in what he described as “the most beautiful place on earth in the lowlands of Fayette County on a spring morning.”

Joe had an extensive knowledge of American history and was engaged in the political scene at all levels. He actively served as committeeman for his local party. When he believed in a candidate, he did everything he could to help in the election process.  He held those elected officials accountable. He submitted letters to the editor on many social and political topics in order to help keep the public informed.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Brenda (Petrucci) Sabatini; proud daughters Brigitta (Jason) Smith of Zanesville, OH, and Rose Lea Sabatini of Uniontown, PA; sisters Loralee (Lolli) Sabatini Rendina of St. Petersburg, FL, and Donna (Behzad) Sabatini Shabestari of Manhattan Beach, CA; grandchildren Iyana May, Sy Joseph, Sydney Maine and Ty Michael Smith, all of Zanesville, OH; many precious aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins; sisters-in-law Crystal (Danny) Shamrock and Jamie Metheny; and special member of the family, Carl Kovach.

The Sabatini family would like to thank the priests, staff and parishioners of the Roman Catholic Churches of Uniontown, PA for their years of prayer and support. A special thanks to the kind and supportive caregivers of Amedisys Hospice; Betty, Heather, Robin and Torra; as well as longtime caregiver, Chris Homer, for her love and support.
