Richard Allen Shulek

Richard Allen Shulek, 82, of Masontown, passed away peacefully on Sunday August 2, 2026.

He was born on Saturday November 27, 1943, a son of John Sr., and Agnes (DeMaske) Shulek, whom preceded him in death, he was also preceded in death by his brother Robert “Smiley” Shulek, sister Joanne Marolt, and brother Arthur Shulek.

Richard was a member of The Masontown United Methodist Church, he served his Country with The United States Air Force, he was employed at the worked at Emerald Coal Mine Company, where he was known as the “The Mayor”. He was a proud and active member of the UMWA, the Fort Mason American Legion Post 423, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Nancy (Keefe) Shulek, sons; Todd Shulek, Craig Shulek, siblings Mary Shulek, John Shulek Jr., James Shulek and Betty Fike. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the Terravecchia-Haky Home for Funerals, Inc., 515 N. Main Street, Masontown, PA., on Wednesday August 5, 2026 from 10-12 p.m., when a service will be held in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery Masontown, PA. where military honors will be accorded by the Masontown VFW Faith-Grey-McArdle Post 4585 and the American Legion Post 423 Honor Guard.
