Edward Regis Amend, Jr., age 80, of Uniontown, PA, passed away on Saturday April 28, 2018.
Rege was born on October 27, 1937 in Uniontown. He was the son of the late Edward and Nellie (Wahler) Amend.
Rege is survived by his wife and best friend of 57 years Barbara (Mangello) Amend; children, Christa Amend Kuhn, Edward R. Amend and wife Heidi Carman, William D. Amend and wife Robin; grandchildren, Jeremy and wife Jessica, Jordan, Jason and Jenna Kuhn; Gillian and Evan Amend; Nathan Guerrierre; Grace and Sofia Amend; brother, George J. Amend and wife Beverly; nephew, Joseph Amend, wife Judy, and their family; and many friends who shared his love of the circus.
Rege’s hobby was circus model building. He built a complete miniature circus that he displayed across Western Pennsylvania for many years. He was an active member of the Circus Model Builders (Terrell Jacobs Ring and Dennis Gilli Tent) the Circus Historical Society, and Circus Fans Association.
Rege was a member of St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and a prominent businessman in Uniontown for 47 years. He was a Graduate of the Chicago School of Watchmaking and the owner of Amend’s Jewelry, Hobbyland USA, and Amend Enterprises. Rege will always be remembered for his famous lemonade at the Fayette County Fair.
Friends will be received in the Baker-Terravecchia Funeral Home, Inc. 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, Pa. 15401 on Tuesday May 1, 2018 from 3-8 PM and on Wednesday May 2, 2018 until 9:15 AM when prayers of transfer will be said.
A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown, Pa. at 10:00 a.m.
Rege’s parting words to everyone would be “May all your days be Circus Days!”
Interment will be held in Oaklawn Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.
